Day eighteen – saw me down for the count. It’s frustrating knowing how limited I am right now. Spent all day writing, some domestics, then was treated to the new Doctor Who episode at the movie theater – and by 10, I was out for the count. Tho’ in hindsight, I think what actually did me in was try to wrangle in a plumbing leak. It’s now Tuesday – late morning.
But on the plus side – it is Tuesday! … which means Twofer Tuesday for Brewer’s April Poem-A-Day challenge. Today he has picked life and/or death
NaPoWriMo‘s featured participant is Voyage Cities with poet m.j.Smith. Their featured poet is Rita Dove Pulitzer Prize winner, former Poet Laureate of the United States, and the author of many books. Loving the diversity that NaPoWriMo is treating us to this year!\
And NaPoWriMo’s promp -to write a poem that incorporates neologisms. What’s that? Well, it’s a made-up word! ThinkLewis Carrol’s Jabberwoky – which maybe the only poem I have memorized! naPoWriMo suggests that your neologisms could be either portmanteaus (basically, a word made from combining two existing words, like “motel” coming from “motor” and “hotel”) or they could be words invented entirely for their sound.
As always you can check out the extended prompt suggestions on the websites – I provided their link.
As for my personal Poem A Day Challenge , today’s PAD is … bank teller.
Some of you know I do live a double life … triple life?
I am an artist (CC Willow). After this April challenge is over I have a Summer challenge beginning – this year’s Paint The Town. Paint The Town goes from May to September and is a series of en-plein aire events. It culminates in a gallery show in October of the best pieces.
Last year’s was especially fun; my Artists In Action group invited my Mid Valley Poets Society to join and dubbed that off-shoot Write The Town. I hope we reincorporate WTT for 2017, several artists said they liked the collaboration between visual arts & spoken word. But I don’t know yet if it’s happening – I have been conscripted into hosting & nursing, separate times, both my brothers due to medical emergencies. I was unable to be on the PTT committee as I had hoped. Even now, I still have Keith recouperating in my front room.
So tonight is the AiA meeting before all that madness begins. My bro is just gonna have to deal without me for a few hours. I’m really excited to see what valley locations the committee has lined up for us. I missed March’s meeting & events; gotta let them know I still alive.
Let me know what you think ...
