Listening to Imagine Dragons which is one of my favorite bands these days. Something about their beat makes restlessness grow in my muscles, pushes me to move – do something, take action, seize the day …

It's Time lyrics

And from their song “It’s time” I am taking the line “It’s time to begin, isn’t it” as today’s prompt.

You can perhaps listen to the song while writing and see what it speaks to you.

Now if you want to play with the whole song in your poem today I am attaching the lyrics I found over at Universal Time Publishing.

I don’t often work with song lyrics. I respect songs – but, when all is said and done, what is a song but a poem performed to music with choreography? And I steal lines occasionally from poems that really impact me, those that start to whisper other conversations it did not have with the original poet.

I remember getting dressed for work one  December 10th in the pre-dawn light when a Bonnie Raitt song came on the radio. And my mind was on the date, an unspoken anniversary of meeting someone I lost. There was a cold mingling of the lyric “’cause I can’t make you love me” and the way the light made everything seem insubstantial,  like vapor – which resulted in my poem  “Secret” …
