Let’s go with my third prompt for Memorial Day Weekend …
My wedding roses
Today’s prompt – “rosētum – Garden of roses” – So many roses get planted in memory of those we lost … or to mark their graves.
My own hubby – an ex-marine, was cremated – and as I had promised him many times – his ashes were sprinkled into my flower beds. So when my wedding roses bloom, he is literally a part of them – his own version of reincarnation. And they just opened up this weekend.
My sample is a challenge piece I was given few years ago – to write a memorial poem about myself – but with a twist. Which resulted in “Green Rain on White Rain“…

My archive of blog’ poetry prompts is here. You know – I’m all about the prompts!!
I identify myself as a Pacific Northwest poet. I have been writing poetry since 1976- and yes - I have been using the pen-name Ariel all this time! I can often be found writing in the Willamette Valley, in Pacific forests or along the Coastlines on Oregon.
