Monday was a 30th anniversary of sorts – I keep circling around it coming closer to being able to give it a voice, a name. … Maybe today’s poem will. Some of my worst moments have happened in December; some of my very best has happened too. This was one – and

even that has become a mourning of sorts. And a celebration – it proves my life was – IS – one worth living. Has moments of glory, even if they don’t last. So  I must endure those temporary moments – like December.

But I am also 3 days away from the 8th anniversary of my husband’s passing; when we powered down the weeks-old equipment and let him go. When I moved out of the hospital – and possibly let me go. Damn December.  But looking back – even my life with him had moments of glory, of temporary perfection.

I keep looking back today – so I think we will go with Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”  for today’s prompt “you had one eye on the mirror“.

Heck … Give in, karaoke this! I am! Even in this bittersweet funk, singing this song fills me with a bad-ass rebellious optimism.
